Skiing in Alpe d’Huez

The first day back home was a great day of skiing with Onno, Lotte and Miranda. Skiing with ‘transaltitude’ so bus at 7am from Grenoble and -if you can find the hidden bus stop- back around 7pm.

The skiing day was great, went up to Pic Blanc (3330m) and did one of the longest descents from there (the run Sarenne). Snow quality was not optimal, the weather made up for that.

Since we couldn’t find the hidden bus stop we were home around 9pm… Had some drinks in Bourg d’Oisans, an advantage of taking the bus compared to driving. And with ski rando plans for tomorrow!

White Christmas in the Netherlands!

I spent the Christmas days back in the Netherlands; surprisingly there was more snow there than in and around Grenoble… On Saturday we (Leon, Annejet and me) made an attempt of ice skating near Leersum. Well it was not really ice but ‘frozen cappuccino foam’ (a frequently used term on a dutch ice skating forum). But still it was fun to be on skates!

Sunday I went with Daphne and Lennard for a little hike and a nice pancake! The views and the lighting in the forest and over the white fields were awesome. Thanks to all for the nice days!

Ski de Fond – Chamrousse

Dec 19th, what a difference with yesterday. The strong wind has blown away the snow from ‘Croix de Chamrousse’ so half of the skiing resort is closed… The solution? Ski de fond – cross country skiing! A great experience with Hisako and Josip!

In the evening we’ve had a great ‘Good-bye’ dinner for Arnau with Hisako, Rew, Francois, and le petit prince Mael! Awesome!

Autrans Alpine Skiing

Dec 18th, a day of alpine skiing with Boaz, Arnau, Josip and Simone. We went to the beautiful station of Autrans: 8 lifts and 12 slopes – we used only 3 lifts and 5 slopes: but perfect snow and awesome weather! Thanks to Arnau, Boaz and Josip for the pictures!

Happy People Christmas Dinner

We organised the Happy People Christmas Dinner.

The house was decorated by Sam and Sarah, and everyone brought some food, at around 20h I thought we could never ever eat that. But around 23h all food was gone. Thanks to everyone!

Ski Rando Crête de Brouffier

Dec 5th, see it as a little ‘Sinterklaas’ present: a second day of Ski Rando ;-) . A small Ski Rando with Martien.

However the weather changed completely compared to yesterday; it was extremely windy. We have had a lot of fun, but decided -on time!- to return. Back at the car the snow felt down, and during the trip back it rained a lot: we made the good decision.

I hope you can see the wind a bit on the pictures below

I know what you did last summer

Besides being a research article*  it is also true for my own room. While my room is as usual messy. My wall shows a pretty good idea of what I did last summer (and winter):

Ski-Rando Col de la Charmette

A lazy way to update my website – part 1

Morning Ski Rando, before work Jakob an I took the time for a small skitour. With amazing weather and amazing snow! The small ski tour became a bit longer then expected, but we returned just in time for the seminar at 16h…
